After a discussion with Hunter about the distance he and some of the other kids walk to school each day, I decided to figure out how far I had to walk each day when I was in 7th grade.

First, thank you to USA Track and Field (www.usatf.org) for providing such a useful tool for figuring out this sort of thing.

Second, it was 1.9 miles.

And I’m sure I remember it as being uphill, both ways.

But there wasn’t that much snow. It was Austin, after all.

Finished reading this book. I’ve read a number of books by Mr. Mandino. I’m both fascinated and annoyed that putting this knowledge into reliable action and habits is difficult. Well, not difficult, but not as simple as having the conviction in the moment.

I’m starting some pages on a new topic area: http://www.twilightsoul.com/ConversationEnders/ἀρετή.aspx

ἀρετή is Greek for excellence. It’s long been a subject of study and a pursuit for me. Call it success-orientation, or the pursuit of excellence. I’m just trying to be a better me.

The family spends a day going to the Sundial Bridge, Turtle Bay, and eating good food.
